Swimming

The Manitoba Cerebral Palsy Sports Association provides operational support and funding to Para Storm Swim Club which offers para swimming programs in Winnipeg.

The Para Storm Swim Club offers competitive and fitness swim programs for persons with physical disabilities who are interested in challenging themselves in a supportive team environment. With multiple programs available, there is an option for every athlete.

The Academy program is focused on providing swimmers with foundational swimming skills to be water safe and improve physical literacy. Instruction is adapted to meet the physical needs and abilities of every swimmer.

Para Storm Swim Club's Competitive swim program is meant for the competitive swimmer and provides advanced coaching designed to build endurance, strength, speed, technical proficiency, conditioning as well race strategy and other elements of competitive swimming. Depending on the specific program, athletes swim or train between 3 and 5 times a week. A dryland training program for the competitive swim team is offered at Sport Manitoba Performance. The competitive team attends meets and competitions throughout the swimming year.

Para Storm Swim Club also provides Recreational swimming and Masters swimming programs.

The primary home pool for Para Storm Swim Club is Boni-Vital Pool (1215 Archibald Street), though other venues may be used for certain programs.

Para Storm Swim Club is a warm, inviting group that develops athletes both in and out of the pool. In addition, Para Storm Swim Club values community and diversity. They host regular social events, potlucks, bowling nights, and give back to the community by participating in the annual CP Stationary Bike Race and Cruisin' to Change Lives fundraising events.

All Para Storm Swim Club programs are for persons with physical disabilities who are interested in challenging themselves in a supportive team environment. No swimming experience required! Open to all children, youth, and young adults.
